Who can register to vote in Mississippi?

To register to vote in Mississippi you must:

  • Be a U.S.citizen
  • Live in Mississippi and your election district for at least 30 days before the next election
  • Be at least 18 years old on the day of the next election
  • Not convicted of a felony (or, if so, have had your civil rights restored)  
  • Not judged mentally incompetent in a court of law

What do I need to bring to vote?

All Mississippi voters casting a ballot in person at the polls or casting an absentee ballot in the Circuit or Municipal Clerk’s Office must present one of the following forms of acceptable photo ID: 

  • A driver’s license, including driver’s licenses shown in mobile applications, as issued by the Mississippi Department of Public Safety, which reflect a non-static photo identification and an address which matches the voter registration information
  • A government issued photo ID card
  • A United States passport
  • A government employee photo identification card
  • A firearms license
  • A student photo ID issued by an accredited Mississippi university, college, or community/junior college
  • A United States military photo ID
  • A tribal photo ID
  • Any other photo ID issued by any branch, department, agency or entity of the United States government or any State government
  • A Mississippi Voter Identification Card

Voters without ID may be able to vote provisionally.
