Who can register to vote in Maine?

To register to vote in Maine you must:

  • Be a U.S citizen 
  • Be a resident of Maine and your election district 
  • Be at least 18 years old on the day of the next election 
  • Not convicted of a felony (or, if so, have had your civil rights restored)  
  • Not judged mentally incompetent in a court of law

Yes! Maine offers same-day voter registration. Visit a polling location on Election Day, November 5, to register.

What do I need to bring to vote?

If you are registered to vote in Maine, you can vote without needing to show ID to get a ballot. 

If you are NOT registered to vote on election day, same-day registration is offered to those who have a government-issued photo ID.

Voters without ID may be able to vote provisionally.
