Who can register to vote in Kentucky?

To register to vote in Kentucky, you must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen 
  • Be a resident of Kentucky and your election district for at least 28 days before the next election
  • Be at least 18 years old by Election Day
  • Not convicted of a felony (or, if so, have had your civil rights restored) 
  • Not judged mentally incompetent in a court of law 

Can I register to vote on Election Day?

Kentucky does not offer same-day voter registration, so be sure to submit your voter registration before the deadline.

What are the voter registration deadlines?

  • The deadline to register online, by mail, or in person is October 7, 2024.

What do I need to bring to vote?

You must bring identification showing your name and photograph from one of these sources: 

  • Kentucky state government (example: driver’s license) 
  • United States government (example: passport)
  • U. S. Defense Department, a uniformed services branch, the Merchant Marine, or the Kentucky National Guard 
  • U.S. college, university, or postgraduate technical or professional school 
  • Kentucky local government: city, county, urban county, charter county, unified local or consolidated local government
