Who can register to vote in Connecticut?
To register to vote in Connecticut you must:
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Be a resident of Connecticut and your election district
- Be at least 18 years old on the day of the next election
- Not convicted of a felony (or, if so, have had your civil rights restored)
- Not judged mentally incompetent in a court of law
Can I register to vote on Election Day?
Yes! Connecticut offers same-day voter registration. Visit a polling location on Election Day, November 5, to register.
What are the voter registration deadlines?
- To submit your voter registration by mail or online, your registration must be received by October 18.

What do I need to bring to vote?
First time voters who registered by mail must present either:
- Copy of a current and valid photo identification with the voter's name and address
OR
- Copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or government document that shows the voter's name and address
Other voters must present:
- Any pre-printed form of identification that shows the voter's name and address, name and signature, or name and photograph
OR
- A social security card
Voters without ID may be able to vote provisionally.
